Independent Drinking for Everyone

The Giraffe Bottle hydration systems are designed for people with limited upper body mobility, such as those who are recovering from surgery or are living with multiple sclerosis. It features an extended straw, or “neck” (you know, like a giraffe) that is designed to make independent hydration a reality for all users. Note: Mixing up the Giraffe Bottle and a real giraffe can have unpredictable results.

Different Hydration Kits

Which “neck” should I get?

Each Giraffe Bottle neck is designed for a different application. The Journey neck features a large drinking tube with a bite valve, making it best for individuals with partial paralysis or those recovering from surgery who have some limited use of their hands. The Tower XL neck is as large as the Journey neck, but also has a hard outer modular plastic shell that allows it to be positioned and left in place. This neck is best for individuals who have full lung function, but have very limited or no use of their hands, like people with quadriplegia. Finally, the standard Tower neck has a smaller straw but the same hard outer modular plastic, making it best for individuals with mild to moderate reduced lung function.

Giraffe Bottle is part of Oak Hill Brands. We are a small business located in Illinois, and we specialize in assistive technology for individuals with physical disabilities.

How we started

Oak Hill Brands started selling assistive technology with the ModularHose brand back in 2009, making low cost wheelchair mounting solutions for switches, tablets, phones, AAC devices, and more. The Giraffe Bottle first became available in 2018.

What makes us different

We know it can be a pain to go through insurance to get assistive tech. That’s why it’s our goal to keep all our products low-cost for users while still making our products high-quality, durable, and specifically designed with the disability community in mind.

LARGE FLEXIBLE DRINKING TUBE – Features 47.75 inches / 121 cm of flexible drinking tube – since some of it is inside the bottle, the total length coming out of the cap is about 36 inches / 91 cm. Best for individuals with full lung and mouth function. The tubing does not retain flavor after washing. A small metal clothing clip is included to aid in supporting the drinking tube.
AVAILABLE WITH BOTTLE CARRIER OR HOLDER – This variation of the kit comes with the Giraffe Bottle Aluminum Bottle Holder. It has an adjustable clamp that easily attaches to round tubing on wheelchairs, power chairs, bed railings, and more. The clamp is adjustable between 0.75 inches and 1.25 inches – which fits most wheelchair railings. Also available is the Giraffe Bottle Neoprene Bottle Carrier, which can sling over a wheelchair, bed rail, shoulder, and more, for a more on-the-go experience.
INTERCHANGEABLE AND REPLACEABLE PARTS – Each component is easily replaceable for hygiene and interchangeable for customization.
REMOVABLE BITE VALVE – The bite valve allows the user to control the flow of the liquid, so that it won’t leak when not in use, and prevents liquid from flowing back into the bottle. Keeping liquid primed and at-the-ready inside the length of the straw makes staying hydrated a breeze. Note that the bite valve is not recommended for small children or users without strong mouth function due to risk of choking.
