Mum to a daughter with long, thick hair, I struggled with combing, and the weekly checks filled me with dread. Whilst the thought of head lice and nits struck fear in me like nothing else; I couldn’t stand these awful pests. The never-ending battle of trying to get rid of theses little creatures crawling around on her head and in her hair became not only stressful but a full-time pre-occupation. I found that the treatments did not work and the combs available were just not up to the job. The standard comb that comes with treatments leaves many of the nits (white shells) in the hair and others with grooves on the teeth shredded and tore at her hair, making it very painful, damaging her beautiful hair and meaning we were having a battle just getting her to sit still.

I had had enough of using tools that were just not up to the job, so after years of research I opened my own head lice clinic, and after six years of research and thorough testing in my clinic I am now launching the amazing NitNOT Comb.

The NitNOT Comb is like no other comb on the market; I went right back to basics and looked at why the other combs were not working and started from the beginning for the design process. While I admit it is not a magic wand and you still need to comb the eggs, lice and nits out; you can now do it quicker, more effectively and definitely more comfortably. Having worked in my head lice removal clinic using the comb on a wide variety of hair types, I have learnt that one comb cannot possibly serve us all, and as such our comb is uniquely combined with two interchangeable comb heads. So here are the technical highlights!

•Through hands-on experience, we know that not all hair is the same, even on the same head hair can vary from the hairline to the crown. This is why we have developed a two comb set that tackles all head lice, eggs and nits for every hair type.

•The interchangeable comb method means you control which comb you need to deal with your unique family’s needs.

•Our comb teeth are closer together than any other on the market. 112 teeth with gaps spaced 0.1mm apart on our precision comb, and 89 teeth spaced 0.15mm apart on our Search and Remove comb. This means they can extract the smallest lice or eggs other combs miss.

•Our handle is ergonomically angled for comfortable combing and scientifically good to remove 30% more head lice, eggs and nits, then other leading combs. Making combing faster and more effective.

•Our comb is wider and has up to four times more teeth than the standard comb, making it quicker and more efficient to remove lice and eggs.

Treating live head lice and eggs with conditioner

Instructions as above according to Steps 2-11, however as a conditioner only immobilizes for a short while and does not kill lice and eggs you will need to comb every 2-3 days, for a minimum of 4 weeks.

INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO REMOVE NITS AND HEAD LICE SUCCESSFULLY

STEP 1

Saturate the hair for INSTANT results with NitNOT ECO Head Lice, Egg & Nit Serum to KILL all lice and eggs without the parabens and chemicals found in your standard conditioner. Alternatively use a conditioner. (Conditioner does not kill lice or eggs, but is needed for combing if you do not have the above NitNOT serum). You should never use any Lice Comb without treatment or conditioner.

STEP 2

4. Clip up the hair above this section securely, so there is a clear line between this and the hair you are working on.

5. Starting from one side of the section, hold a manageable amount of hair at 90 degrees to the scalp.

6. Insert the comb as close to the scalp as possible. Do not dig into the scalp.

7. Move the comb down from the base of the hair to the tip and off the end. It is essential to start every stroke at the base.

8. When the stroke is complete, wipe any lice and eggs on a tissue. Repeat these steps on the same piece of hair until the comb has been clear for at least three strokes.

STEP 3

10. When the hair you are combing is clear, select a new horizontal section of hair to work on. However – ensure you have a portion of overlap with the area you have just combed.

11. Once you have completed a full horizontal section, tie this section down and select another straight section immediately above, working across from one side of the head to the other.

12. Repeat until you have reached the front hairline. Ensure all fine hairs at the edge of the hairline have also been combed using the precision comb.

HOW TO PREVENT HEAD LICE AND NITS?

Performing Regular Checks with the Search & Remove comb:

We recommend incorporating performing weekly checks into your family’s usual hair washing routine.

It is important to check once a week for head lice infestations to ensure they are caught before they have had an opportunity to reproduce and spread. To conduct the weekly check, use your search & remove comb. You will be looking for adult lice. (See our life-size guide included with your NitNOT combs set).

To conduct a head lice check, first, watch our step by step video instructions video. Always use on wet hair.

TOP TIPS

• Use the precision comb for fine hair, delicate hair around the edge of the hairline and on babies and young children’s hair.

• For thick, curly and afro hair, use the search & remove comb.

• On short hair, comb in four directions and overlap the strokes.

• When checking for lice you are looking to find live lice. Eggs do not indicate a live infestation as white empty shells (nits) can be stubborn to remove and left from a previous infestation.

Don’t worry about the risk of not being able to thoroughly wipe clean the comb in between strokes. Once eggs have been combed off the hair, they cannot re-attach to the hair and thus perish

With 112 super fine teeth it can remove the smallest and most stubborn of lice and eggs from their hair. Even the the little white eggs.
